Kiko Porto Returns to North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Watkins Glen

Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Toyota Gazoo Racing / Banco Daycoval / MC Games / Team: Rafa Racing), leader of the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, returns to compete in a round of the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo season. The race will take place at Watkins Glen track in New York state, counting towards the third round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship.

Porto, who is part of the Rafa Racing Team, will this time share the car with another Brazilian, driver Werner Neugebauer. The Brazilian returns to the Pro category, the same class he competed in last season when he achieved impressive results.

"I'm very happy to be back and represent the Rafa Racing team in Lamborghini, this time returning to the Pro Category, which was the category I raced in last year. At a track where we managed to get on the podium last year. But now I'm substituting another driver who was sharing the car with Werner, which brings even greater responsibility to help Werner succeed, since he's the one who's been scoring points since the beginning of the championship," highlighted Kiko Porto.

"Kiko Porto welcomed me very well at RAFA Racing and shared his experience on the American tracks we've been to. I got on the podium in the last round at Laguna Seca, and now I want to pursue my first victory. If that happens alongside Kiko, being a 100% Brazilian pairing, it will be even more remarkable," said Neugebauer.

The partnership between the two Brazilians promises to be one of the attractions of this round. Werner Neugebauer is an experienced driver and multiple champion of the Porsche Cup Brasil, who is exploring his international career this season. For Porto, the opportunity to share the cockpit with such an experienced driver represents a valuable learning opportunity.

"The main thing here is to help and create the means for Werner to achieve the highest possible points score. At the same time, we know that to achieve that we have to focus on winning, and I'm very excited. Werner has several titles in Brazil and this is his first year exploring this international career after quite some time. He's someone with a lot of experience in GT cars, so it's always a good opportunity for us to have some good laughs and learn a lot too," commented the Brazilian driver.

The Watkins Glen track brings back special memories for Kiko Porto. In 2024, the Brazilian competed in the full Lamborghini season alongside Frenchman Nico Jamin, a pairing that even made it to the Super Trofeo World Finals in Spain. The driver secured third place in last season's competition, in addition to winning races and taking pole positions, showing that the Lamborghini category holds no secrets for Porto, who stepped onto the podium at Watkins Glen in 2024.

"Yes, we managed to get a podium, it was quite positive, however in race 1 we had a mechanical failure, that was the frustrating part. But it was a round where we had a good pace that weekend," Porto recalled about his previous performance at the New York circuit.

The official schedule for the third round of the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Watkins Glen has free practice sessions this Thursday (19th) at 10:45 AM* and 1:55 PM*. On Friday (20th), Porto and Neugebauer will have the two qualifying sessions at 9:15 AM* and 9:35 AM*. Still on Friday, the first North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo race at Watkins Glen takes place at 4:00 PM*. On Saturday (21st), the second race happens at 4:10 PM*. (*local time).

Porto's fans will be able to follow and cheer for him and Werner Neugebauer on the Lamborghini Super Trofeo YouTube channel, where all the round's activities will be broadcast live.
