Sebring (FL), March 11, 2025
The week will be action-packed at the legendary Sebring International Raceway in Florida, which hosts IMSA - International Motor Sport Association events and the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo season opening round. Representing Brazil on the grid of the prestigious Italian supercar series, Kiko Porto (Toyota Gazoo Racing / Banco Daycoval / MC Games / Team: Rafa Racing) is returning to the championship for this first race of the year.
Currently leading the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge and competing full-time as a Toyota Gazoo Racing driver, Kiko was called up by Rafa Racing Team to fill one of the team's seats for the season opener. He will share the #2 car with fellow Brazilian Nick Monteiro, from São Paulo. The invitation came as a surprise to Porto, but he did not hesitate to accept the challenge.
"It was unexpected. Now that I’m a full-time Toyota driver, it wasn’t something we had planned. However, the team needed someone to step in, and I’m really happy that it will be an all-Brazilian car. I’ll be racing alongside Nick Monteiro, who is now following the same path I took a few years ago with DEForce and USF Pro," Kiko highlighted.
The Sebring round marks the Brazilian's unexpected return to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. In his rookie season in the series in 2024, Kiko Porto delivered an outstanding performance, securing wins and pole positions and finishing third in the championship standings. Even though his participation is limited to this round, he is determined to show that he remains competitive.
"This is just for the Sebring round, but the team needed me now. So we’re going all in, and maybe more opportunities will come up in the future," the Pernambucano driver added.
Track action for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season opener kicks off this Wednesday (12) with the first free practice sessions. The first session is scheduled for 10:25 AM Florida time, followed by the second at 3:30 PM. On Thursday (13), drivers will participate in two qualifying sessions at 11:55 AM and 12:15 PM (local time) to determine the starting grid for the weekend's two races.
The first race of the season will take place on Thursday at 5:55 PM Florida time (6:55 PM in Brazil), while Race 2 will be held on Friday (14) at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (6:00 PM in Brazil). Fans can follow the action and cheer for the Brazilian drivers live on the official Lamborghini Super Trofeo YouTube channel.
