Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / MC Games / Team: Rafa Racing) kicked off the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge season on a high note. This Friday (17th), at the iconic Daytona International Speedway in Florida, the Pernambuco native was the fastest driver in both GSX-class practice sessions, driving the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 for Rafa Racing. In the first session, Kiko clocked a 1:53.858, and in the second, despite changing track conditions, he posted a 1:54.269, firmly establishing himself as the driver to beat in the category this weekend.

“It’s been a very positive start with Rafa Racing. I’m really happy with the car’s performance and our pace. Leading both practice sessions was important, but I know tomorrow is a new day. We need to stay focused and work even harder to achieve our goals,” Kiko emphasized, highlighting the importance of maintaining peak performance.

Saturday (18th) will bring decisive challenges for the driver. Qualifying, scheduled for 8:40 AM local time (10:40 AM in Brazil), offers Kiko Porto his first chance to convert his practice speed into a strong starting position for Race 1, set to begin at 2:00 PM (4:00 PM in Brazil). With a 35-car grid comprising GSX, P3, and GTDX classes, the competition promises intense battles on Daytona's demanding layout.

Kiko’s #8 Toyota competes in the highly competitive GSX class, featuring 15 other drivers on the grid. According to the Pernambuco native, the key will be maintaining consistency and maximizing the car’s potential to secure standout results in both Saturday and Sunday’s races.

The season opener concludes this Sunday (19th) with Race 2, scheduled for 1:20 PM local time (3:20 PM in Brazil). For Kiko Porto, this is another opportunity to showcase his talent on the international stage and begin 2025 with solid results in a prestigious championship like the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge.
