Indianapolis (USA), September 23, 2024
The legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted the fifth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season this weekend. Pernambuco-born driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Team: Ansa Motorsports) experienced another special moment in his career this year, competing alongside his French teammate Nico Jamin. The Brazilian driver claimed two second-place finishes, helping ANSA Motorsports establish itself as one of the top teams of 2024. Behind the wheel of the #4 Lamborghini in the PRO category, Porto and Jamin displayed strong teamwork and resilience throughout both races over the weekend.
After Thursday’s (19th) practice sessions, the action continued with qualifying on Friday (20th). Kiko and Nico secured second place on the grid for the first race, indicating the pair’s strong pace. However, qualifying for the second race proved more challenging, with the Franco-Brazilian duo only managing to secure eighth place, leaving them in a position to fight back in Saturday’s race.
Friday’s first race was full of excitement. Kiko Porto delivered an impeccable performance, crossing the finish line in second place, just behind their teammates Morris and Cabirou, in a stunning one-two finish for ANSA Motorsports. The result reflected Porto’s consistency and determination, which have been key in his standout debut season in the international series.
On Saturday (21st), the second race demanded even more from the duo. Starting from eighth on the grid, Kiko and Nico had to adopt an aggressive strategy to make up positions throughout the race. With daring overtakes and precise driving, the pair once again finished in second place, securing another podium in Indianapolis. The result was also crucial for the championship, elevating Porto and Jamin to second place in the standings, just 12 points behind the leaders.
"I think this was one of the most special weekends of my career. Securing two podiums in Indianapolis, such an iconic track, was incredible. The team worked well, and despite some challenges, we managed to stay consistent. Now, we’re going all out for the finale in Jerez de la Frontera, aiming to fight for the title," said Kiko Porto.
Kiko Porto now focuses on his next big challenge: the final round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, which will take place on November 14-15 at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain. With second place in the championship and only a 12-point gap to the leaders, the Pernambuco native heads into the finale with a real chance of contending for the title.
