Indianapolis (USA), September 18, 2024
This weekend, Pernambuco-born driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Team: Ansa Motorsports) will return to the track to compete in the fifth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, taking place at one of the world’s most iconic motorsport circuits: the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Expectations are high, as Kiko, in his rookie season in the PRO category, remains in the hunt for the title, showcasing his skill and determination.
Kiko Porto teams up with French driver Nico Jamin for Ansa Motorsports, driving the #4 Lamborghini. Together, they hold third place in the drivers' championship, with 82 points accumulated so far. With only an 11-point gap to the season leaders, Porto and Jamin are focused on closing that gap and reaching the top of the standings.
The Indianapolis track holds great memories for the Brazilian. During his time in Formula Racing, Kiko Porto earned significant victories on this circuit, including a win in 2021, the year he claimed the USF2000 title. This experience could be a major advantage for this round, especially in crucial battles, despite the difference in driving style between a Lamborghini and formula cars.
“Returning to Indianapolis always brings a special feeling, as it was here that I achieved important moments in my career. Now, the challenge is different in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, but the determination is the same. I’m confident we can aim for great results in this round,” Kiko Porto remarked ahead of the event in Indianapolis.
The Lamborghini Super Trofeo round is part of the IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) schedule. Preparations begin this Thursday (19th), with two free practice sessions at 1:45 PM* and 5:05 PM*, where Kiko and Jamin will fine-tune the car and find the ideal balance for the Indianapolis track. On Friday (20th), the pair will face the qualifying sessions, held in two rounds at 11:20 AM* and 11:40 AM*, with Kiko and Nico responsible for setting the grid position. Right after, the first race will take place at 5:00 PM*, kicking off an exciting weekend.
The second race, scheduled for Saturday (21st) at 6:10 PM*, promises to be decisive in Kiko Porto and Nico Jamin's journey toward the championship. For the Brazilian, who is experiencing a special moment in his career, this is another chance to showcase his growth and fight for glory in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, which is already shaping up to be a promising season.
