The recent success of driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Team: Ansa Motorsports) in the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo has been yielding good results at the beginning of this season. There are already three wins, five podiums in the PRO category, and the lead in the championship standings, driving the number 4 car for Ansa Motorsports.
Kiko, who shares the wheel of his car with his teammate, Frenchman Nico Jamin, has shown all his talent and adaptability in this category. After all, his entire career has been based on formula cars. However, the way he has been handling this new direction in motorsport positions the Recife (BRA) driver as a promising success in the Super Trofeo.
“I am very grateful to the team that gave me this opportunity to drive in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. My teammate, Nico Jamin, teaches me a lot about the car, and I have been trying to absorb all the details of the car in the best way possible. The results are coming, and that makes me very happy,” commented Kiko.
The success of the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo gained a new chapter in recent days with the announcement by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the racing division of Automobili Lamborghini, which recently announced the class for the Junior Super Trofeo and GT3 Program. Among the names is Kiko Porto, who will have the chance to participate in the brand's annual evaluation and the final competition in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, in November.
“It's certainly a very rewarding moment, especially in this new journey in GT cars, the Lamborghini, which was the championship, the home I chose for this transition. This way, we see that we are on the right track, reaping the rewards of good results this year,” said Kiko Porto upon receiving the announcement of the Lamborghini Program.
The Junior Drivers Program of the Super Trofeo is dedicated to drivers aged 25 or younger who compete in one of the three regional Lamborghini Super Trofeo championships: Europe, North America, and Asia. Kiko and the other drivers on the list will be monitored throughout the 2024 season with specific evaluations of performance, progression, consistency over a weekend, experience, professionalism, technical feedback, and attitude both on and off the track. The winner of the Super Trofeo Young Drivers Program will receive support from the Squadra Corse factory in the next season.
“Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and we have much more to learn, explore, and achieve. We will move forward with heads held high along with this manufacturer, which I am very pleased to be a part of, which has always been a dream of mine since I was a child, and now I can be part of the Lamborghini family. It is very gratifying. I will keep working to go even further with the brand,” concluded the Brazilian driver.
Remember that Kiko Porto's next commitment, driving the Ansa Motorsports car, will be between August 31 and September 1, at the COTA - Circuit of The Americas - track in Austin, Texas, in the 4th stage of the 2024 North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo season.
