The start of the 2024 season for Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Team: Ansa Motorsports) has been meteoric, reaching the top of the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo. With three wins and four podiums in the PRO category, alongside his teammate, Frenchman Nico Jamin, the duo reached the top of the championship standings. However, the challenges in this weekend's race at Watkins Glen were greater than expected for the Ansa Motorsports' car number 4 team.

Kiko raced for the first time on the track in New York but quickly adapted to the 5,430-meter circuit with eleven turns, many of them high-speed. In the first qualifying session, he secured fourth place in his category for Friday's race (21st) and lined up in the front row, in second place, for Saturday's race (22nd).

In race one, with Kiko Porto taking the first part of the race, the car experienced an electrical problem, and the duo was forced to retire before the first half-hour of racing. On Saturday, Nico Jamin took the first stint in the second race, and Kiko took over in the final stint. The team had a pit stop issue and, upon returning to the track, the car broke the steering bar, leaving it misaligned and making right turns difficult. Even so, in a race with many yellow flags, Kiko Porto did his best to bring the car home in third place, securing another podium in the PRO category and maintaining the championship lead.

“We had a lot of work this weekend. There’s not much to say in the first race because the car had an electrical problem, and we had to retire. In the second race, there were many yellow flags, preventing us from fighting for the lead, and the race ended under a yellow flag. But we managed to get a podium, and kept our lead in the championship, and now we wait for COTA, a track I like a lot. I've raced there in formula cars and believe it will be an easier adaptation with the Lamborghini,” assessed Kiko Porto in his Watkins Glen debut.

Kiko and Nico Jamin will be back in action for Ansa Motorsports from August 31 to September 1 at COTA - Circuit of The Americas - in Austin, Texas, for the 4th round of the 2024 North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo season.
