Brazilian Kiko Porto defends Lamborghini Super Trofeo lead at Watkins Glen

After achieving three victories in four races, Brazilian driver Kiko Porto and his teammate, Frenchman Nico Jamin, will hit the track again this weekend for the third round of the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season. The races will be held at Watkins Glen International, in New York.

In the second round at Laguna Seca, Kiko Porto again secured pole position in the qualifying session and won both races scheduled for the category. Alongside his teammate Jamin, Kiko hopes to continue this good momentum in the season as they head into the third doubleheader of the category, driving the Ansa Motorsports' Lamborghini No. 4.

“Certainly, this is a highly anticipated round for me. It's been a long time since I've had the experience of a new track, and for Watkins Glen, it gives that feeling of butterflies in the stomach again. It's a track known for its extremely high speed, which adds another layer of excitement. But for sure, we need to continue the same work we have been doing in the Lamborghini and try to score good points for this round,” commented Kiko Porto.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a category contested worldwide, with rounds in Europe and Asia. In the United States, it is part of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), a prototype championship in the country.

According to the information released by the event organizers, there will be two free practice sessions for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo on Thursday (20) in the afternoon. On Friday (21), the two qualifying sessions are scheduled for the morning, followed by race one in the afternoon, valid for this third round of the Lamborghini. On Saturday (22), race two will take place in the late afternoon. The races will be broadcast live on the IMSA.tv channel on YouTube.
