Kiko Porto to Replace HMD Motorsports Driver in INDY NXT Event at Road America

Elkhart Lake (WI), June 9, 2024

A Saturday morning brought great news for Brazilian motorsport, especially for driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval). The Pernambucano will replace American Nolan Siegel in the cockpit of HMD Motorsports for the Elkhart Lake stage at the Road America circuit, the sixth round of INDY NXT, the feeder series for IndyCar.

The news was announced through the category's official channels and caught thousands of Kiko Porto fans by surprise. Kiko was expected to be one of the drivers in the category at the beginning of this year. Last season, the Brazilian driver tested in the category and competed in one round with the HMD team at Laguna Seca.

This race will be a significant challenge for Kiko Porto, who has been away from the INDY NXT cockpit since 2023 and now has to adapt quickly for Saturday's practice (8) and Sunday's race (9) at Road America.

“I’m very happy with this opportunity. I will indeed have to readapt to the car very quickly, but it’s a great chance to return to racing in INDY NXT, and I want to make the most of it,” commented Kiko Porto.

In the current season, the Brazilian driver is competing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo category with Ansa Motorsports, alongside his teammate, Frenchman Nico Jamin. Together, the drivers have already reached the podium four times, with three victories.

Kiko Porto will have only one free practice session on Saturday morning, and at 4:20 PM Brasília time, he will hit the track for the qualifying session, which will determine the starting grid. Sunday's race starts at 3:05 PM. The event will be broadcast on IndyCar's On Demand channels.
