The weekend was full of speed at Laguna Seca track in Monterey, California, USA. It was the second round of the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season. Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval) once again shared car number 4 with French driver Nico Jamin and in the two races held over the weekend, they clinched the top spot on the podium, with a win and the lead in the driver standings in the PRO category.
In the qualifying sessions that determined the starting grid positions, Nico set the third-fastest time for race one of the weekend. When it was Kiko Porto's turn to hit the track, he managed to be the fastest and secure the pole position for the start of race two of the weekend.
For race one, Nico Jamin was the first to take the wheel of the Ansa Motorsports team's car. Shortly after the start, Jamin held onto the third position but quickly made a pass to take second place. With many yellow flags, the team decided to bring Nico into the pits and switch drivers. In a good strategy planned by the team, Kiko Porto brought the car back onto the track in first place, without losing any positions, and crossed the finish line in first.
This Sunday (12), it was time for race two of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo weekend at Laguna Seca. Kiko started in pole position but with cold tires, he couldn't maintain the lead and dropped to third place. Again, with many yellow flags in the race, the team brought car number 4 into the pits earlier, and in the strategy, Nico Jamin returned to the track to once again take the lead of the race and cross the finish line in first, securing the team's second win of the weekend.
"The strategy was essential for this weekend. The team worked very well, with so many yellow flags, and we performed well on the track. I managed to finish first yesterday, today it was Nico's turn. Two wins and we're firmly in the lead of the championship. I'm very happy with this new moment in my career, and we're going for it in the next one," explained Kiko Porto, just after the trophy presentation ceremony.
Ansa Motorsports drivers Kiko Porto and Nico Jamin will return to the track between June 21 and 23, at Watkins Glen, in New York, for the 3rd round of the 2024 season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.
