Driver Kiko Porto is ready for another challenge in his career. After standing out on American tracks in the junior categories leading to the IndyCar series, and becoming champion of the USF2000 and runner-up in the USF Pro 2000, the Brazilian will make his debut in the 2024 season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, this Thursday (14). The category is part of the preliminaries of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), the main prototype championship in the USA.

It will be the first time Porto will compete in a full season aboard a GT car, however, he already has experience with the model. In July 2023, he participated in the Nascar Brazil Special Edition and secured a victory in his debut. This year, he will race in the PRO category alongside the Frenchman Nico Jamin. Like Kiko, Jamin was also USF2000 champion and has titles in ProMazda, IMSA, and IndyLights in his résumé. The duo is part of the Ansa Motorsports team.

Last week, the Brazilian had his first contact with the car and completed the first training sessions. "It was very positive! The first day was more about observation and getting a feel for the car. On the second day, we put together all the information I had learned, and we managed to be the fastest in the morning practice. My learning curve was accelerated by my teammate Nico, who has a lot of experience. I'm feeling very confident with the car. Everything is very new, but it's all been very special", commented Porto.

According to the schedule of the first stage of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, two training sessions are scheduled for this Wednesday, with the qualification for both races starting at 12:55 p.m. on Thursday (14). Race 1 begins at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, with Race 2 at 7:05 p.m. on Friday (15). The races will be broadcast live on IMSA.tv.
