Orlando (FL), March 4, 2024
One of the preliminary categories of IMSA, the main prototype championship in the USA, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America will have Brazilian driver Kiko Porto accelerating in the 2024 season with the Ansa Motorsports team. The 20-year-old driver has been making a mark on American tracks in the junior categories leading to the IndyCar Series. USF2000 champion and USF Pro 2000 runner-up, Kiko is now ready to take on GT cars. His debut is scheduled for March 13th at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida.
"I'm pleased to share this news. The opportunity arose and I seized it. I believe it will be a year that will bring learning and broaden my horizons. It won't be my first time racing in a GT car. I had a great experience in the NASCAR Brazil Special Edition last July. Now, it will be a whole season, and I confess I'm excited and confident. It's going to be awesome!" commented Porto.
The Brazilian driver will compete in the PRO category alongside Frenchman Nico Jamin. Like Kiko, Jamin was also a USF2000 champion and had titles in ProMazda, IMSA, and IndyLights in his resume.
In addition to the competition in North America, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo has two more tournaments: in Europe and Asia. Organizers also usually hold a World Final to bring together the best competitors of the year and crown the grand champion.
According to the calendar released by the event organizers, the first round will be held in Sebring, Florida, from March 13th to 16th. The other four races will be held at the traditional circuits of Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Circuit of the Americas, and Indianapolis.
